About

Maison Moderniste is a gallery based in Turnhout, Antwerp region, Belgium, specialising in collectible modernist and post-war design, with a strong focus on works by Belgian architects and designers, alongside curated European and international 20th century design pieces. Founded by interior architect Annelies Hofmans, with experience at Hub Architects and AR-TUR, the gallery is shaped by architectural thinking, materiality and proportion.

The Collection

The selection has grown from a sustained interest in modernist architecture and its interiors, where furniture and art were conceived as part of a larger whole. The collection reflects a particular affinity for Belgian modernist design and post-war abstract art, with works by figures such as Gaston Eysselinck, Jules Wabbes, Willy Van der Meeren, Alfred Hendrickx, Maarten Van Severen and Lucien Engels, selected for their quality, patina and architectural relevance. Maison Moderniste does not follow trends, but maintains a consistent direction, moving between local relevance and international perspective.
