Visiting Christophe Gevers at the Design Museum Brussels

We recently visited 'the Architecture of the Detail' at Design Museum Brussels, an entire exhibition dedicated to Christophe Gevers, and a reminder of the quiet strength of Belgian design. What stayed with us most is the clarity of his thinking. Gevers designed from the inside out, starting with use, material, and proportion. His work does not rely on gesture or image, but on precision. Everything feels considered, without ever becoming rigid. The exhibition focuses on his process as much as on the final pieces. Models, archives, and interior elements reveal a designer who worked physically, testing and refining before arriving at a result. These models, in particular, stand out, not as representations, but as tools to understand space.

There is a certain restraint in his work that feels increasingly relevant today. In a context where design often becomes louder and faster, Gevers offers a different rhythm, one based on attention, consistency, and detail. For us, this is what defines the quality of his work. It reveals itself over time, through use, and through the precision of each element.
