About Antoine Callebaut
Antoine Callebaut is a Belgian designer and metal artisan known for his refined work in bronze and brass. Active from the late 1960s onward, he collaborated for many years with Jules Wabbes, one of Belgium's most influential modernist designers. Through this collaboration, Callebaut contributed to the production of Wabbes' high-quality furniture and lighting, and further developed his own approach to precise, material-driven design.
After Wabbes' death, Callebaut founded Atelier Callebaut in 1978, continuing the tradition of meticulous craftsmanship associated with the Wabbes oeuvre. The atelier became known for its sculptural metal objects, lighting and architectural hardware, all characterised by clarity of form and exceptional material execution.
