POUL KJAERHOLM, PK31 Lounge Chairs by EKC

Out of stock

Here's a beautiful pair of first-edition PK31 lounge chairs by Poul Kjaerholm, manufactured by E. Kold Christensen in the 1950s. The frames are crafted from matt chrome-plated spring steel, a bold move away from traditional wood that gives these chairs their iconic look.

The cotton lining has been professionally replaced and the frames display typical oxidation spots consistent with age. Still dressed in their beautifully aged original leather, soft to the touch with just the right amount of wear, these chairs retain their original stuffing and EKC label underneath. Authenticity at its finest!

About Poul Kjaerholm

Poul Kjærholm (1929–1980) was a Danish designer who moved away from traditional Scandinavian wood furniture by working primarily with steel. He combined steel with materials such as leather, cane, and marble, using each for its specific qualities.

His furniture is built from clear structures, where joints, proportions, and material contrasts are carefully resolved. He worked closely with manufacturer Ejvind Kold Christensen, who produced many of his designs.
