MAURICE BOEL, Blue Abstract Composition

A dynamic blue abstract composition by Belgian artist Maurice Boel, featuring bold planes that appear to dance across the canvas. Warm hues infuse the piece with an inner luminosity, while the irregular surfaces, created by layers of superimposed paint, add depth and texture to the artwork. This piece exemplifies Boel's style, where movement takes center stage in his composition.

Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1962 in lower left corner. This artwork is in good condition, still rocking its original frame. Though, we can reframe it upon request to suit your style.

About Maurice Boel

Maurice Boel (1913–1998) was a Belgian painter whose work evolved from figurative compositions towards abstraction. Early works show a strong, sensuous figuration, while later paintings focus on color, line, and the relationship between planes.

Movement became a central element in his work, with compositions built from shifting forms and contrasting colors. Alongside painting, he also produced tapestries with his wife Opie Boel, extending this approach into textile.
