Renaat Ramon, Geometric Sculpture in Limestone

Abstract geometric sculpture titled 'Interieur' by Belgian artist Renaat Ramon, Belgium, 2017, executed in French white limestone. Ramon, sculptor, poet, essayist and visual artist, belongs to the field of Belgian geometric abstraction and constructivist sculpture, where form, measure and space are treated as equal elements.

Rather than carving a figure from the stone, Ramon cuts the space within it, making the void as present as the material itself. The work can be shown in two orientations, altering its relation to light and surrounding space. From Ramon's own office, monogrammed on the side, in good condition with one small loss, and presented on its original custom pedestal in the same stone.

About Renaat Ramon

Renaat Ramon (born 1936, Bruges) is a Belgian artist associated with geometric abstraction and constructivism, known for his precise and mathematically structured sculptures. Working primarily in bronze, marble, and stone, his work is defined by clarity of form and an architectural sense of balance.

He lives and works next to his modernist house in Bruges, designed by architect Arthur De Geyter, a context that reflects the same discipline and spatial thinking found in his work. Alongside his sculptural practice, Ramon developed a unique body of visual poetry, where text, numbers, and signs form compositions that exist between language and image.
