About Alfred Hendrickx
Alfred Hendrickx (1931–1976) was a Belgian furniture designer who shaped the post-war direction of Van Fleteren, where he introduced lighter and more functional furniture with a clear influence from Italian design. With the Belform collection (1953), he developed a more flexible and contemporary language, combining refined proportions with practical use.
His work was presented at Expo 58 in Brussels, a key moment for modern design in Belgium. Hendrickx worked within the same context as designers such as Willy Van Der Meeren, Jos De Mey, and Lucien Engels, reflecting a shared shift towards a modern way of living.
