CHRISTOPHE GEVERS, Coffee Table with Red Curved Steel Base

Coffee table designed by Christophe Gevers in the 1970s. The table features a clear glass top resting on a curved steel base finished in red lacquer, a colour frequently used by Gevers in his interiors and furniture designs. The base consists of two bent steel elements that support the 16 mm thick glass top. The use of industrial materials, visible structure and strong geometry is defines Gevers' work. 

A recognizable design by Christophe Gevers in good condition, with no chips to the glass top and some scratches and wear to the steel.

About Christophe Gevers

Christophe Gevers (1928–2007) was a Belgian interior architect and designer known for his total approach to space, where architecture, furniture, and detail form a coherent whole. His work spans interiors, office systems, and lighting, with key projects such as the Cap d'Argent (1958) and the 300 series for Asko.

Trained in both technical crafts and design, Gevers developed a precise and material-driven language, shaped by his early experience at De Coene and his long tenure as head of the Furniture and Layout workshop at La Cambre. His work is defined by functionality, tactile materials, and an exceptional attention to detail.
