Christophe Gevers, Table Lamp in Galvanized Steel

Table lamp designed by Belgian interior architect Christophe Gevers for the Brussels brasserie 'Le Cap d'Argent', conceived in 1968. Originally produced exclusively for the restaurant in a vivid red, the lamp was designed specifically for the tables and incorporates a slot at its base intended to hold the menu.

This numbered edition follows Gevers' original plans and is executed in galvanized steel. The cold galvanization reinforces the raw industrial character central to Gevers' work, where utility, material and construction were never separated. A distinctive example of Belgian modernist lighting connected directly to one of Gevers' best-known interiors.

About Christophe Gevers

Christophe Gevers (1928–2007) was a Belgian interior architect and designer known for his total approach to space, where architecture, furniture, and detail form a coherent whole. His work spans interiors, office systems, and lighting, with key projects such as the Cap d'Argent (1958) and the 300 series for Asko.

Trained in both technical crafts and design, Gevers developed a precise and material-driven language, shaped by his early experience at De Coene and his long tenure as head of the Furniture and Layout workshop at La Cambre. His work is defined by functionality, tactile materials, and an exceptional attention to detail.
