Roger Bonduel, Four-Armed Steel Candlestick

Unique large four-armed steel candlestick handmade by Roger Bonduel in Belgium during the 1960s, with provenance from a modernist chapel where sculptural metalwork formed part of the architectural setting. His close collaborations with architect Paul Felix and glass artist Michel Martens contributed to a renewed approach to post-war architecture in Belgium.

Composed of four separate steel elements connected to a central point, the piece allows different arrangements and has a strong architectural presence. The steel shows a rich original patina, reinforcing its sculptural character and material honesty. One-of-a-kind Belgian modernist object in very good condition.
