Roger Bonduel, Handmade Console Table in Etched Steel

Unique console or centre table handmade by Roger Bonduel in Belgium during the 1960s for a modernist chapel. Executed in etched and patinated steel, the piece reflects the architectural restraint and material experimentation associated with Belgian post-war design and modernist decorative arts. Elliptical top combined with straight legs in a balanced and highly architectural composition. The richly textured steel surface, characteristic of Bonduel's work, contrasts subtly with the more matte base. Bonduel is known for his collaborations with modernist architect Paul Felix and glass artist Michel Martens, all considered important figures within Belgian modernism.

One-of-a-kind piece with refined detailing throughout, preserved in beautiful original condition.
