Rogier Vandeweghe, Blue-Glazed Tapered Vase for Amphora

Blue-glazed tapered vase by Belgian ceramist Rogier Vandeweghe, produced by Amphora, Belgium, 1960s. After his early work at Perignem, Vandeweghe founded Amphora in Bruges, where he developed a more autonomous ceramic language of elongated forms, controlled glazes and sculptural vessels.

The vase is built from a rounded body that gradually narrows towards a long, fine neck. The blue glaze appears less often in Vandeweghe's Amphora production, where earth tones and darker textured glazes are more frequently seen. In excellent condition, without chips, and marked near the lower rim, a strong example of Belgian ceramic art.
