Beautiful two-tone wardrobe designed by Willy Van Der Meeren for Tubax, Belgium, in 1952. This piece shows the essence of Belgian industrial mid-century furniture design, often used in schools and factories. Its design has sliding doors in shades of grey and dark blue lacquered metal, accented by solid teakwood handles, a signature of Van Der Meeren's style and found in the designs of Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand. The wardrobe offers three shelves on one side and a clothes rail on the other. 

This rare first edition with a wooden back is presented in good, original condition.

About Willy Van Der Meeren

Willy Van Der Meeren (1923–2002) was a Belgian architect and designer known for his socially driven approach to modernist design. His work focused on construction, efficiency, and accessibility, often using standardized materials such as wood and steel.

Through his collaboration with Tubax in the 1950s, he developed a range of functional and affordable furniture, characterized by clarity of structure and subtle use of color. Van Der Meeren is regarded as a key figure in post-war Belgian design.
