Maarten Van Severen, Leather Lounge Chair LL04 for Pastoe

Out of stock

Rare exceptional leather lounge chair LL04, designed by Maarten Van Severen in 2004 and produced by Pastoe in a limited edition of 130 pieces, with the first 15 reserved for museums. Handcrafted with natural saddle leather on a hand-welded frame, the design features unique elements like a single armrest-table and detailed stitching. Van Severen intentionally designed the chair to showcase signs of human use, encouraging scratches and stains that enrich the piece.

This early cognac saddle leather version is in beautiful condition and has developed a rich patina.

About Maarten Van Severen

Maarten Van Severen (1956–2005) was a Belgian designer and interior architect, known for his radical clarity of form and material. Working initially by hand, he developed furniture that balances archetypal simplicity with an exceptional level of precision.

His approach placed strong emphasis on the tactile and natural qualities of materials, often left untreated to reveal their origin and to evolve through use. Van Severen's work reflects a belief that objects gain meaning over time, shaped by the traces of everyday life.
