MAARTEN VAN SEVEREN, Top Mouton CN°II Chair

This exclusive Top Mouton edition of Maarten Van Severen's CN° II chair was crafted in limited quantities by hand. Featuring a thin sheet of aluminum resting upon an aluminum frame with square front legs. The chairs have a sanded finish complemented by a natural wax treatment. Intentionally designed by Van Severen to showcase signs of human use, these chairs invite users to leave their mark to enrich the piece. This collector's item has earned its place in the MoMA in New York.

The chairs are in good vintage condition and show some scratches and stains, as intended by the designer.

About Maarten Van Severen

Maarten Van Severen (1956–2005) was a Belgian designer and interior architect, known for his radical clarity of form and material. Working initially by hand, he developed furniture that balances archetypal simplicity with an exceptional level of precision.

His approach placed strong emphasis on the tactile and natural qualities of materials, often left untreated to reveal their origin and to evolve through use. Van Severen's work reflects a belief that objects gain meaning over time, shaped by the traces of everyday life.
