Maarten Van Severen, ST11 U-Line Floor Lamp for Light

This ST11 floor lamp, designed by Maarten Van Severen for Light, Belgium, in 1997, is a great example of the pure and timeless design that defines Van Severen's work. As one of the first U-Line productions, it holds a special place in design history. Now crafted by Wästberg Lights, this original piece has become even more desirable. About Maarten Van Severen

Maarten Van Severen (1956–2005) was a Belgian designer and interior architect, known for his radical clarity of form and material. Working initially by hand, he developed furniture that balances archetypal simplicity with an exceptional level of precision.

His approach placed strong emphasis on the tactile and natural qualities of materials, often left untreated to reveal their origin and to evolve through use. Van Severen's work reflects a belief that objects gain meaning over time, shaped by the traces of everyday life.
