Maarten Van Severen, LC95A Loop Chair by Atelier MVS

This LC95A Low Chair is  a unique piece by Belgian designer Maarten Van Severen, made in his Ghent atelier in 1995. Van Severen was deeply invested in hands-on experimentation in his workshop, producing one-of-a-kind pieces before collaborating with industrial manufacturers in the mid-90s. This makes any early work from his atelier incredibly rare. The chair's silhouette resembles the 1954 Loop Chair by Willy Guhl. Its constructed from a single, 50 cm-wide aluminum sheet folded into a flexible, low-slung seat, with rubber pads underneath for added comfort.

With its blue finish, this piece is a one-off, an absolute collector's item! Presented in great original condition, with just a few minor scratches to show its story.

About Maarten Van Severen

Maarten Van Severen (1956–2005) was a Belgian designer and interior architect, known for his radical clarity of form and material. Working initially by hand, he developed furniture that balances archetypal simplicity with an exceptional level of precision.

His approach placed strong emphasis on the tactile and natural qualities of materials, often left untreated to reveal their origin and to evolve through use. Van Severen's work reflects a belief that objects gain meaning over time, shaped by the traces of everyday life.
